Tel Aviv’s gay beach is at the heart of the gay scene during the day and is close to the cruisy Independence Park.
The gay beach, Hilton Beach, is the one outside the Hilton Hotel, and ironically, it is adjacent to the orthodox beach where men and women can only sunbathe on separate days.
Hilton Beach, easily identifiable by its rainbow umbrellas, is an open-air butchery.
You’ll find the neighbors no impediment to lots of buff boys in brief Speedos strolling the sand and stopping off at one another’s blankets to talk and make plans for the evening. You’ll also see a surprising number of paddle ball games, known as matkot, on any sunny day at the beach—it is something of a representative city sport. The ambience is lively and fun, so you will probably enjoy the beach no matter what your sexual identity may be.
Ga’ash Beach
Go off the clothed track to Ga’ash Beach, about half an hour drive north of Tel Aviv. Though not exclusively gay, Israel’s only official nude beach is certainly the only of its type on the eastern Mediterranean. It is located a drive west from the Tzomet Sfarim bookstore in the Shafiim-Gaash Kibbutz shopping center.
