Gay guide to TEL AVIV & What you need to know!

A quick guide to getting the most out of your gay holiday to Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv Gay Scene

Gay life in Tel Aviv centres around the beach during the day. With miles of sandy beaches, the city is home to one of the world’s most famous gay beaches. Night time, catch those buff bodies dancing the night away at one of the many line parties that pop up and change keeping the scene fresh and new!

There are more bars than synagogues, God is a DJ and everyone’s body is a temple. Called the ‘city that never sleeps’ think of it more of a Miami beach by the Med rather than middle east. The people are beautiful, friendly and charming and the atmosphere is liberal and open.

The scene is vibrant and year-round. When Western Europe and the US are shivering in the cold, Israeli boys are still enjoying temperatures of up to 25 degrees and dancing on Hilton beach. Impromptu parties and special gay-nights contribute to a gay scene that is varied and diverse. From the Beef parties for bears and butch men, to the glitter and europop parties at Evita; Tel Aviv has something for everyone.

Dining out is a feast for the senses. Weekends are busy so book your restaurant table well in advance. Hot guys spill onto the streets from the many gay bars as they meet up with friends and discuss their plans for a night out.

The pride festival takes place in June. The event has been getting larger each year and the main parade and afterparty on the beach are one of the highlights of the city’s gay calendar.

The city also has some steamy saunas and shady cruising areas. Tel aviv boys can be quite direct…so if they like you, they will let you know!

The gay scene is embedded into the city’s psyche. There is no gay-area here. Instead you will find the scene scattered all over the town. Gay people meld into the culture and ambience of the city’s cafes and sidewalks. Guys holding hands on the street is quite acceptable.

In spite of the greater political turmoil in the Middle East, Tel Aviv is a very open city that welcomes people of all walks of life. Tel Aviv offers a unique experience in understanding how minority groups can live together. Tel Aviv is like most European cities—modern and culturally inclined—only the men have better tans and bigger pecs thanks to the desert sun and required army service. Remember, everybody loves a Jewish boy…

  • Where to Stay?

Stay close to Gordon Beach and you will be at the epicenter of gay life in the city! The beachfront hotels fill up the fastest so book in advance to guarantee a room with a view!

  • Don’t Miss it!

At the heart of Tel Aviv-Jaffa sits the White City, a cluster of some 4,000 buildings designed in the 1930s by German-trained Jewish architects with a passion for Bauhaus design. Marked by simplistic lines, geometric balconies and the sleek uniformity of clean white facades, the White City is a Unesco World Heritage site that has, over the past decade, received a painstaking restoration. The richest collection of architectural gems is clustered along tree-lined, cafe-dotted Rothschild Boulevard, which features a central pedestrian green space and is one of the city’s prettiest thoroughfares.
